Welcome to WellMind Living and thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I am a very proud wife, mother, daughter, sister, and therapist. And I absolutely LOVE what I do! I graduated from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) with a B.S. in Human Development/Human Services and then went on to receive a Master’s in Social work from the University of Southern California. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia, as well as in Massachusetts, Utah, New Jersey, and Texas. Additionally I am certified as a supervisor for master’s level social workers seeking licensure as clinical social workers in Virginia.
I am trained as an EMDR therapist by The Maiberger Institute and am currently completing my consultation hours to become fully certified as an EMDR Therapist and Consultant. My true passion in life has been helping people improve their mental health and overall well-being. I have over 15 years experience assisting adolescents, young adults, and adults with improving mental health, relationships, and trauma concerns.
Because I recognize that therapy is not a "one size fits all" treatment approach, I utilize a variety of treatment modalities. Most commonly, I find that EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, person centered, and solution focused therapies have been incredibly helpful for many people, so I lean on those often to find interventions that work best for you!
I am well aware that taking the first step to ask for help and come to therapy is incredibly difficult. I also know that getting to know and trust a new therapist is not the easiest or most comfortable process for many people. I make it my goal to be open and welcoming and want to help you find the best way to work through all of your areas of concern.
So if you are ready for change and want to experience an overall improvement in your mood and well-being, then I am ready to help you! Take that first step - send me a message, or schedule an appointment. I know that therapeutic fit is one of the most important parts of therapy. So I welcome you to reach out, ask me questions, and I will do my very best to answer everything I can to help you feel most comfortable.
